Christmas gifts from daughter-who-knits!
They are very special and indeed, winter warmers.
A few extra rows were added to the sock cuffs so I would have more to cuff or scrunch. Following the instructions for the heel, which I refer to as quick-n-dirty, left ghastly holes. Daughter-who-knits knows how to avoid this, but using the recommended yarn (
Alpaca Chunky) and needle size made it impossible to minimize them. She ripped back more than once and finally strayed from the instructions by going down a needle size and using a slow-n-clean heel method. No ghastly holes, no more ripping back.
She knit the Holly Hat as a "house hat" to go with my house socks. Both are lightweight but very warm so there is no need to turn the heat up!
...Happy Trails...
